Your master bedroom should feel like a sanctuary and a place to escape the pressures of daily life. Here is our guide to help you create a dream master bedroom that will give you a beautiful space and a perfect night’s sleep.
As the name suggests, your bed will be the starting point when creating your dream bedroom. Once you have a mattress and bedframe you should consider the best way to arrange your furniture. As a general rule, your bed should be against a wall with the headboard opposite the door. This will form a natural focal point within the room, allowing you to build a look around the bed. An accent wall of colour or a dramatic piece of wall art above the headboard will instantly draw the eye to the centre of the room.
When it comes to dressing your bed there are countless things you can do to make it look luxurious, however the simplest way to add style is by investing in high quality bed linen. To add further luxury, consider varying fabrics and textures on the bed. A well-placed knitted throw and some velvet cushions will only enhance the look.
On the subject of fabrics, you will want to dress your window for style and practicality. There are many options available to you from curtains to blinds and shutters. Again, varying materials and textures looks great. Any bedroom will benefit from blackout blinds or curtains as they block the morning light in summer helping you to maximise your sleep.
As with any room, lighting is crucial to help create the right ambiance. Bedside lamps are perfect for reading before bed but also help to create a soft and inviting glow! Candles are also great for this with the added benefit of releasing a relaxing aroma.
Finally, don’t overlook storage. Fitted wardrobes, bedside tables and drawers will help to keep your room looking neat and tidy. Assess the space you have available to you and select furniture accordingly. An armchair or an ottoman can look fabulous in your bedroom but shouldn’t be included if space is limited.
